.Abstract
Gastrointestinal tract bleeding can be divided into three zones according to its location: high (proximal to the ampulla of Vater), medium (from the ampulla of Vater to the ileocecal valve), and low (from the ileocecal valve to the rectum). In turn, upper gastrointestinal bleeding can be subdivided into variceal or non-variceal bleeding depending on the cause.
