Rejection Rate

During 2024, a total of 83 manuscripts were received. Of these:

  • 57 were accepted for publication.
  • 19 were definitively rejected, representing a total rejection rate of 22.9%.
  • 21.7% of the rejections occurred during the preliminary editorial stage, before being sent for peer review, due to non-compliance with format, originality, writing, or eligibility criteria.
  • Only 1.2% were rejected after the external scientific review process under the double-blind peer review model.

This behavior reflects an editorial policy that seeks to balance academic excellence with the educational nature of REMUS, by offering authors—especially students—the opportunity to correct their work in an initial stage, before it undergoes scientific evaluation.

The rejection rate is calculated according to international standards such as those suggested by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and responds to the following criteria:

  • Manuscripts that, at any stage of the process, have been definitively rejected for publication are considered rejected.
  • Articles that are under active review, are being corrected, or have been accepted after modifications are not included in the rejection rate.

This rate is a key indicator of REMUS's commitment to editorial ethics, scientific quality, and the research training of new professionals in the health field.
