Dengue y arbovirus: causas y estrategias de prevención

El dengue, considerada una enfermedad tropical desatendida (ETD) con una amplia gama de síntomas y presentaciones potencialmente mortales, representa un desafío global de salud pública. Se realizó una revisión de la literatura con el objetivo de analizar los factores demográficos, socioeconómicos y políticos asociados con su incidencia, así como evaluar estrategias actuales de prevención y control. La urbanización no planificada, escasez de ser vicios de saneamiento básico y resistencia a insecticidas se destacan como factores que favorecen la propagación de sus vectores. A pesar de los esfuerzos para su erradicación, las estrategias de control actuales han mostrado ser insuficientes, persistiendo como una amenaza creciente que resalta la necesidad de abordar las desigualdades sociales y promover enfoques integrados basados en una colaboración lineal entre el sector científico, público y privado.
