Informative section - Prostate
The information section is a section created for the publication of microscopic images with the aim of promoting a culture of research and publication beginning in preclinical semesters. The authors of these images are undergraduate medical students from the University of Sonora who are completing their laboratory work in Histology, a subject taught by Dr. Guillermo López Cervantes, with the support of the MPSS.

Tubuloalveolar glands of the prostate, which produce fluid that nourishes and transports sperm, are observed, showing testosterone-sensitive simple columnar epithelium; their cells are divided into mature luminal and basal cells.
The former (well-differentiated) secrete seminal fluid; while the basal cells are undifferentiated and produce prostate-specific antigen (PSA). The glands are surrounded by smooth fibromuscular tissue (HEX400).
