Malignant skin tumors frequently present in the Caucasian population as a painless, bleeding, chronic ulcer with irregular borders and heterogeneous color, among other characteristics depending on the type of cancer. Distinguishing between a benign and malignant lesion enables general practitioners to achieve early detection and subsequent referral to a dermatology specialist to confirm the diagnosis and provide timely treatment. Avoiding risk factors and promoting the use of sunscreen are essential measures to prevent skin cancer.
