Abstract

The Consensus of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) of the United States, carried out in 2001, defined osteoporosis as a skeletal disease, characterized by decreased bone resistance and deterioration of its microarchitecture; which predisposes patients to an even greater risk of fracture.
