The treatment of diverticular disease will depend on its presentation. Once the existence of diverticula is confirmed, the presence or absence of symptoms should be investigated, since the entity is classified based on this. Most commonly, uncomplicated symptomatic diverticular disease occurs in up to 75% of cases. In contrast, complicated diverticular disease is less common (25% of cases).
