In medical practice, it is important to keep in mind that certain skin manifestations are associated with systemic diseases. Knowledge of signs and symptoms on the skin from primary care allows for timely diagnosis or to determine when referral to a specialist is necessary. The goal of early identification is to initiate specialized treatment for the underlying pathology.
